The MOST important part of the project

Just completed the door for the outdoor shower which will have hot and cold water. This is the one thing that I am most looking forward to!!!

Finally a new, SAFE railing

The old railing was attached to the deck with nails...whoever built it was a complete moron. Had someone bumped it with enough force they would have most likely knocked it off and had a nasty fall.

Kitchen and Bath: Works in Process

Kitchen and bathroom coming together. Found a good plumber who started the rough-in two weeks ago, but had a family crisis in FL. Will hopefully be back on the job this week to finish up. Crossing my fingers. Why does it always seem like there are "just a few more things to get done"?

Broughton helped me create a dry creek on the left side of the garage...looks a lot cleaner now! B and Quinn love working with stone...

Ceiling fans are in and working above main room and in the loft...

Left side of the bathroom: cardboard square covers the toilet and sink base is in place...tub will go to the right of the sink...

Sunday with Dad at the Lake

We Spent Sunday mostly on electrical stuff.
Daddy and I , Quinn, got the stairs bolted in & the rest of the railing posts installed. We listened to music, had the heater going on, and got ALL the outlets screwed in! Now I know how to wire an electrical outlet!
It was fun!!

Boardwalk Landscaping

Broughton and Quinn did great job hauling and placing the stones and spreading the mulch. They want to be on HGTV!

Steps-in-progress...

Arrived at Rock House this past Wednesday morning at 7:30a.m. and had to drive to Wahalla to pick up one last section of EZ-Flow ( http://www.ezflowlp.com/ ) for the space between the retaining wall and the garage wall. Then on to Seneca to pickup materials for the deck stairs. I found building the stairs easier than I originally thought. We decided to move the stairs from the center of the deck to the far right side so that they would not be as obtrusive. I think the way they fit on the slope works. If we were to have built them from the top center of the deck it would have looked too much like a rollercoaster...The idea was to have a connected, easy way to get from the garage to the main house. Still need to add backboards to the stairs as well as intermediate railing posts, railings, decking for the landing and a short set of steps down to a yet to be completed boardwalk.

Decking is now complete

I was able to install the remaining posts for the shower and about 1/2 the decking on Tuesday as the weather was good. Perfect fall day at the lake. Wednesday the weather turned and it rained just about all day. I still managed to finish the decking. Railings are next along with steps and closing in the outdoor shower stall.
